A Little Bit About Fisher

What a blessing to finally be able to share progress on our adoption and pictures of our sweet boy.  We received our home study draft from our social worker and are making corrections over the weekend.  Once we return it to her, they will finalize it, and then we can send it in with our I800A application that goes to US Immigration.  Progress is encouraging after feeling like we were so stagnant, even going backwards, for a while.  We are very blessed that Fisher has been living in a wonderful Christian foster home since June of last year.  Here is a little bit of his story:

Fisher was born January 10, 2011 and abandoned nine days later. When he arrived at the orphanage he was very cyanotic, his whole body was blue, and it was determined that he had a very severe heart disease. Because of financial difficulties and a shortage of medical resources, Fisher was unable to have his heart disease officially diagnosed until over a year later. Fisher was weak and very delayed developmentally. Because of his heart condition, his activity level was very limited. He was only able to sit up with support, and this did not happen until he was over a year and a half old. Fisher's heart condition has since been diagnosed. He has heart disease. The local hospitals were unable to provide any support for Fisher's case, but the orphanage did not give up. We (New Day Foster Home) offered to help and arranged for tests to be run at the high-quality hospitals in Guangzhou, and were thrilled to hear that surgery would be possible. Fisher had his first heart surgery July 10, 2012 and it went well. We look forward to watching Fisher grow healthy and strong through lots of love, care, and an additional heart surgery. He is a special little boy whose life is a treasure worth fighting for.

After being at the foster home for a year, now, Fisher is doing really well.  He is walking now and is growing and developing well.  He will still need at least one, if not two more surgeries for his heart condition when he comes home.

We were able to send a family photo to his foster parents recently.  This is a picture of him looking at our picture for the first time.  They said he smiled and kissed the screen!

What an amazing gift he is!  We are so thankful to The Lord for giving us Fisher.  We do not deserve such an honor, and are so thankful for God's grace and mercy.  We know we can do NOTHING without HIM.

New Day Foster Home, is such a wonderful ministry.  If you are interested in finding out more about them, visit their website at www.newdaycreations.com .  If you feel led to do so, you can support their ministry, and even sponsor a child.  It is because of them, and people like you who supported their ministry, that Fisher was able to have his first heart operation.  We are so thankful for them and the heart that God has given them for orphans.

We are also very thankful for our adoption agency, Lifeline.  Please also consider visiting their website and supporting them. www.lifelinechild.org .
