These things can help place an orphan in a forever family!
In case you haven't figured it out by now, we are adopting! The Lord has matched us with a sweet little girl from China with a similar, but more severe, heart condition to Fishers. You can read all about it in the "Beautiful Journey part one and two" posts. We have started our home study and are steadily working on all of the paperwork, fingerprinting and training. In the meantime, the adoption costs are already building up!
International adoption is expensive. And while some may say, why adopt if you can't afford it, they just don't understand the way the Lord works. He takes our "fish and loaves" and multiplies it through friends, family and sometimes even strangers, who step up to "defend the orphan" through donating money to help families with adoption costs. You see, we aren't ALL called to adopt, but we can ALL make a difference in some way. We saw so many amazing things happen through fundraising last time. We had so many opportunities to share what the Lord has done (and is still doing) in our lives and it also gave us a chance to share the Gospel!
Back in November when we first felt the Lord leading us to adopt again, we felt that if we did any fundraising, we would do it differently than last time. Don't get me wrong, last time was great and we were able to raise probably 60 percent or more of our total costs! God was so faithful in so many ways. But we felt like maybe it was too much about us. But oh, this isn't about us. ITS ALL FOR THE GLORY OF JESUS CHRIST. So this time, instead of doing a whole bunch of little fundraisers to try to help cover that enormously big grand total of around $40,000...we felt the Lord leading us to take a different, more simple approach.
This fundraiser will be the only online fundraiser we will do. That's right, the only one. We plan to have maybe one or two yard sales at our house and possibly one dinner event, but this will be our only online fundraiser. So if you can help, please do...don't wait! Journeys condition is more serious than Fishers, so we are going to try to expedite the adoption process, which will speed it up some, but we aren't sure how much. We need to get her home as soon as possible so the cardiologists here can find out if they can help her.
If all 200 "leaves" on The Journey Tree are sponsored, we will have half of our adoption costs met!
The way this works is you pick a number (represented by a leaf on The Journey Tree) between 1-200. If you choose 35, for example, you would send in $35 to go toward our adoption, and we would send you one raffle ticket as a thank you for your sponsorship. Each raffle ticket gives you a chance to win one of the prizes shown below. We will draw for the prizes on November 21, just in time for Christmas. We felt like it was right to give more tickets for the higher donations...so those who sponsor numbers 1-50, get one raffle ticket. Numbers 51-100 get 2 tickets. Numbers 101-150 get 3 tickets. And numbers 151-200 get 4.
The prizes you could win:
One set of 2 REM-fit bands. ($120 retail value)
One $50 American Express gift card
One $200 Amazon gift card
We do have a Paypal account if that is the simplest way for you to donate, or you can mail a check. I hope this wasn't too confusing. We will try to update the numbers as best as we can. If someone chooses the same number, we will contact you to work it out. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.
We had so much fun putting up this tree. Even the little ones helped. Greg and I prayed for this fundraiser as well as all of the people who would choose to participate. We are so grateful to have so many friends and family that support us. By donating you are helping place an orphan in a forever family. ONE LESS ORPHAN! What better gift could there be?
Share if you can! Thanks so much for helping us get Journey home!
