It was sooooooo good to sleep in my own bed last night. When we got home, Sterling had made a huge banner with "welcome home Fisher" on it. It was hanging in the doorway. His siblings greeted him with such love and affection. You could see how much they truly missed him. Sterling would tell me often when he was in the hospital, how quiet the house was without him. Now at first it seems that she is simply saying he was a loud kid, so the house was quiet when he was gone. But Trinity was still at home, and she is 2. How could the house be quiet with a 2 year old in it? What she was trying to say is it was quiet in a way that is boring and sad. Fisher brings joy wherever he goes. The house without him was too quiet, not as happy, missing a part of joy. So last night the house was full again, full of laughter, full of joy...full. I am constantly reminded of something people say to me often, "you've got your hands full". That's not a bad thing, people.
This picture is about the only time Fisher sat down after coming home. Trinity asked him to come sit with her and watch Papa feed the horses. And of course he did. They love each other so much. It is sooooooo sweet. Fisher played until he was give out. He ate so much he nearly popped. He wants to jump right back in to being a regular kid, but there is so much healing still to take place. It will be hard for the kids for a while too. They want to hug him and play with him just like they did before. In time, in time...but for now he is fragile.
The Lord has been so gracious to us during this time. I have looked back at all the pictures of Fisher hooked up to machines and unconscious. It almost seems like a dream. I was so hesitant to share this journey on social media. After being off Facebook for so long it seemed awkward to share such intimate details of our lives with so many people. But looking back, I am glad we did for several reasons. It's so helpful to remember Gods goodness and providence when we have it documented. It's a witness to His grace and mercy to see what we have just walked through in print and pictures. Several people have contacted us thanking us for sharing and giving witness to how The Lord is using our journey in their lives. That is so humbling. I can not imagine He would choose to use us. We are so sinful and selfish. But He is all sufficient. He is strong in our weakness. I truly hope that shines through in our lives. The fact is that when you see the mess, it's US. When you see anything good, it's ALL CHRIST.
