Moving right along...

Paperwork. Paperwork. Paperwork.
Got an update yesterday from our social worker on our home study.  We are definitely knocking down a lot of the paperwork and reading and education that is required.  Looking at my checklist, it appears we only have a couple more things to get done to complete the home study...YAY!!!  Hoping and praying that our medicals are ready soon.  These basically say that we are healthy and able to care for the child(ren) we adopt.  We really need these to be done.

It seems like we have been so busy but I cant remember for the life of me what we have been doing.  I hate to go so long in between posts, but it seems I either dont have time, or dont have anything special to share.  But today I do.  We have been looking at waiting children on our agency's website ever since we began the adoption process, well really even before.  If you choose a waiting child, sometimes you can "match" a little earlier in the process and not have to wait for certain things to get approved.  The other choice is to wait, tell them what you are looking for (age, sex, severity of medical needs etc) and they will send you "matches" or you can look at a list that has children on it.  The children that are "waiting" (they are ALL waiting), but the ones on the "waiting child list", are usually a little older and have more significant special needs.  We are hoping to choose one of these children.  I am really kindof scared to say it but we have found one that we are praying about (and honestly already becoming attached to---I know, it sounds crazy, but its true).  I wont say much about him yet except that yes, he is a boy.  So we are working on some paperwork to send something to China that says "we would like to adopt this child" and would place him on hold, that is called a LOI or Letter of Intent.  In the meantime, there are some things happening that are really requiring us to trust The Lord, and wait on Him.  Please know that as soon as we are able to share anything specific we will.  In the meantime, please pray that we will be obedient to The Lord's will and patient during this process.  It is long, we knew it would be, and the medical conditions of some of these children can be scary, just being honest.  The crazy thing is that it seems that things that are scary to us are not necessarily scary to others, and vice versa.  The Lord supplies the peace for what He calls us to do, and its not the same for everyone.

So, listen to how cool this is... in order to send this LOI paperwork to China you have to send a payment.  We had sold our horse trailer to a sweet young girl here locally and she paid us some money down.  She was going to pay us the rest when she got it.  Well guess what?  She called Greg this week and wanted to bring us the rest of the money, and can you believe it...it was EXACTLY how much we needed to send in the LOI (Letter of Intent) for our little boy.  I am scared to say that, "our little boy", scared that something will fall through, but I am going to trust in The Lord and know that what He has called us to, He will bring to pass in His time, and His way.  He is our God.  He is able.  He provides.  He is worthy of ALL our praise and worship.  Pray with us for obstacles to be removed for this part of the process.

  1. Speaking from a mom of my daughter going throug adopting, crazy or not, you do create a bond with these kids. Unless you have ever adopted no one, not even I, knew how much paper work, studies, money, time, documents on and on and on thay you have to go through. God will provide, it takes special people for special missions in life. You are one of the chosen!
