Fisher is at a foster home right now. Its called New Day South. They are wonderful, loving, Christian people and we are so blessed that he is there. They truly want what is best for these sweet babies. They try their best to make the transition as easy as possible for them. Its never really easy, but anything they can do to help, they do. We sent him a package last month and he has a photo album with our picture. They look at it with him and they talk about who we are, and what he calls us...mama, baba (daddy), gege (big brother), jiejie (big sister), and meimei (little sister).
Earlier this week we were able to do something that was totally amazing. We were able to SKYPE with Fisher! Yes, that is what I said. We were able to talk to our sweet boy. We happened to be visiting Mimi that night so she was able to video and take pictures. I just can't explain how that felt. We were talking to our son, who is in China, for the very first time! It was amazing. He is so smart! He was holding our picture in his hands. We could see it. It was bent and crumpled from him holding it and loving on it. His preschool teacher was the one who handled the call. She said the picture was "well loved". So he would point at the picture and then point at us and say our names, mama, baba etc. We were all crying such happy tears! We were able to read to him and sing to him and he said his numbers for us. It was 15 minutes and it was over before we even knew it. We will be able to do this, Lord willing, every other week until he comes home. This will allow him to really become familiar with our faces and voices so the transition might be a little easier. We are so blessed to be able to do this. Many, many families, only get a few pictures of their children before they go get them. We are so blessed and thankful for New Day South Foster Home. They are truly a blessing to us and to the children they care for. It has truly made it "real" for us all. We cried happy tears but also sad tears when we had to get off. It is hard to let him go, when we want him to come home so badly!
Paperwork update: We should be getting our immigration approval in the next week or so. Once that is here, we get our dossier certified and authenticated by the state and feds and then we send it to China! That is a HUGE step toward completing our adoption. Barring any unforseen complications, we should be about 6 months from traveling to get Fisher! We still have alot of funds to raise and will need every minute to do so. Please join us in praying for Fisher to continue to stay well and grow strong. Please also pray for his caretakers. And lastly please pray for us to be able to complete the process without complication and to raise all of the funds we need to bring him home!
Enjoy the pictures of our first SKYPE!
